After 7 months of being a "single Mum" and a "bachelor", Lilah and I received a phone call from Scotland to say that the Visa had come through and everything was good to go.
So we did what any family would do, and gave Steven 48 hours (originally it was going to be 24) to say his formal goodbyes (come on... he had been saying "goodbye" for 7 months now) and get on a plane to California.
On 25 February, Lilah and I went to SFO to pick Steven up.
We waited... and waited... and waited...
Lilah sat more patiently than any 5 year old I have ever met, for over 90 minutes, waiting and watching the door for her dad to come through. She had been waiting for months now. 90 minutes was easy. She wasn't going to budge.
And finally, after the final clearance from the USA Visa control on this side of the pond, Steven was dispatched and we were reunited.
Lilah was made the happiest girl in the Western Hemisphere.
