going on the slide

out with dad.  being a proper Big Girl!

lilah reads the wild things

lilah reading her bedtime story (where the wild things are) and calling it "night garden."  i can't tell you how much she loves this book.  she loves to smell the monsters stinky feet when they're swinging in the trees... but her favourite part is when the monsters say (and she says it with me): "oh PLEASE don't go!  we'll eat you up we love you so!!"

check out how killer she looks in her new head-gear.

daddy's guitar

daddy's new ta-tawr, which lilah loves.

glasgow art fair

on our way to the art fair, we sat on the steps of the GoMA (Glasgow Museum of Modern Art) waiting for luisa frangescangeli.

i didn't get any pictures of lilah in the exhibition... which is truly unfortunate, because she was a stellar appreciator of many of the works inside.  but i'll give you some examples:

(the painting: President Obama on the steps in Washington, behind him the banner "Yes We Can!" -- it's roughly 5' x 5') ... lilah's reaction: "Bama!! Bama!!" really, really loud.

(the photographs: four large [2.5' x 4'] B&W portraits of greyhound dogs from the neck up.  their ears all back, so they look like funny S shapes.) ...  lilah's reaction:  "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!"  until we get to another booth.  (dad tried to hush her, but i told him to stop.  it was the best reaction those photos will ever get.  they deserved to be adored.)

(the paintings: three heavily painted (and by heavy i mean thick, goupy, inch-off-the-canvas type oil paints) landscapes)  ...  lilah's reaction: to reach out and try to grab the "tweees".

we were inside the exhibition tent for 2 hours.  lilah did extremely well!  that was her first major exhibit, and she was told by more than one of the gallery representatives that she has "art in her soul".

aw.

21 April 2009

quite observant, lilah.

there is a tunnel down at the river walkway, which gives off this amazing echo.  when lilah was a baby-baby, she didn't like going through it at all.  today, she loved it.  i hope you can hear her echo in the recording... if it weren't for the wind, i tell you, it would be publishable!

anyway, there's three things you should know about this one:

1)  lilah says "running" at the beginning because there's a man (and you can just see him) running our way through the tunnel

2) she then says "doggie" after head-butting the camera because two dogs have run into the tunnel.  i had already seen them coming.

3) that pup looks almost exactly like raffey.  and she's about to lick lilah right in the face.

today, we...

...sang row, row, row your boat while walking down by the kelvin (the smaller river)

... felt very confident up high on the wall

... walked up a hill just to run down it.  again.  and again.

... found one of the friendly neighborhood cats!

kahlil rocks

just hanging out on grace's bed (grace is kahlil's mum).  playing with a prism, some fancy stone eggs, and going to sleep.

lilah loves colette

colette is a lovely girl who has helped me with my mop of hair for the past 4 years.  so she's known lilah since before she was born.  i think lilah knew her, too, because she has always loved colette.  even when she was a tiny baby that didn't like anyone except her mum and dad... colette always gets a smile and a cuddle.

more games with dad

noh-no!  teddy, doggy, monkey, lion, moon, and lilah all quit the bed.  whether they want to or not.

when mum's away

she insisted on being up there, because she's a dare-devil (in training).  -- says dad.

bad dad.  -- says mum.

learning to use pens

lilah the budding tattoo artist.  trying to remember song lyrics.  getting inspired.

choo-choo train

this is lilah on the underground in glasgow.  more affectionately referred to as the clockwork orange -- because it's orange, and it goes around the city in a circle one way, and the other.  we unnecessarily ride the tube at least 5 times a week, one stop, solely for the fact that lilah is absolutely in love with the entire process of catching a train.  which is good, i think, for when she ends up living in london, paris, new york, and san francisco.

swinging

at the park on easter monday, swinging and sliding.  there were sunbeams poking through the clouds.  a bit chilly, but all in all, pretty blissful.

the transport museum

we couldn't take a video, but let me assure you that the transport museum, filled with all sorts of cars, choo-choo trains, buses, and tino's (motorbikes to most of you), was a HUGE success.  the highlight of the trip?  a re-created turn-of-the-century Glaswegian lane, complete with cobblestones and shop fronts... where behind the door of the cinema, was a Tom and Jerry cartoon.  i should put this on record:  that was her first experience of Tom and Jerry.  but it won't be her last.  she was in stitches.

in the wardrobe with her friends

if you had someone to do this for you, you totally would.

9 April 2009

if you want it to be the moon, it's the moon

you can be the one to tell her it's an apple with a bite out of it.  i'll let her think it's a crescent moon for as long as she wants.

8 April 2009

puddles and iggle piggle

on our walk home we found some puddles.

lilah loves theia

we filmed this while we were watching theia and she was taking a nap.  amy and rupert (martin) are theia's lovely parents, whom lilah also loves.

it's lilah time

lilah.  2 days before turning 19 months old.
loving her new easter dress from grandma sue.

last week lilah learned "Daddy, please help me!"
it has since become a catch phrase.

and you get a kiss, you lucky thing, you.
