Totoro: mummy. mummy? (taps my leg, pointing at the clock.) what does that say?
Mum: it says it's still time to sleep.
Totoro: mummy. turn on the light. i want to go see uncle max.
Mum: in 10 minutes we can get up.
Totoro: NOOOOOOO! (cries, kicks..) (turns over) tickle my back.
mum tickles back. eyes closed.
one minute later:
Totoro: Mum. I want to go see Uncle Max and Toby. Is that a problem?
Mum: ... whah? What!? What did you say, Totoro?
Totoro: I want to go see Uncle Max and Toby. Is that a problem?
Mum: uh... wait 5 more minutes until Toby has had his milk...
(and give me a second to re-adjust to having a 13 year old daughter)
