16 April 2012

our annual easter egg hunt

this year, the rain was just waiting in the wings
but the kids didn't seem to mind

theia always looks so serious

lilah is always ready to pose

jude is just the cutest baby on the block

jack, i'm so sorry my camera made your easter bag look fluorescent pink!

you all did such a great job!

and all was going well until

about halfway through the tour, we saw the giant ferris wheel in george's square
(which, incidentally, doubled for downtown philadelphia in the upcoming brad pitt movie world war z)

we couldn't go on the ferris wheel then, obviously,
well,
obviously to us grown ups.

this was lilah's reaction to hearing there would be no ferris wheel just now:

and this:

even when we said we'd go later

the self portraits still show the rotten news

appropriately - the necropolis (similar in size and style to pere lachaise in paris)

oooh, grrr...

merchant city's clock tower
where they used to hang people that broke the law

lilah's pictures of the glasgow red bus tour

here is lilah in her seat on the red bus tour of glasgow

and here is what she saw:

the entrance to the botanic gardens

rows of tenement houses off of byres road

fairly reminiscent of my favourite poster, eh jules?

another beautiful day in scotland

the big slide at kelvingrove park

lilah recently discovered that she loves this slide
check the point of reference in the bottom right corner: that man is over 6ft tall

speeding down

4th of 10 rides...

and then we promptly fell asleep

nap time came soon after the family's arrival

we have been working a bit too much  and needed to rest

happy birthday, dad and uncle jim

we were lucky enough to have my mom and uncle jim come out for a visit over easter.

they came for 2 weeks, toured all over glasgow, and then we went further afield to Skye and Inverness
(where we surely saw Nessie's spine along Loch Ness)

so - in reverse order - here's a few snippets of the memories we made when we remembered to get our cameras out.

(in reference to the above photo)

upon arrival on 2 April, which happened to be uncle jim's birthday, we celebrated both his and steven's birthday with a homemade seville orange and almond sponge cake.
