at home with her friends
Culzean Castle
on our way to the castle
we found the night garden and looked for iggle piggle
instead we found this Monkey House
which was surprising not only to us. apparently, there are only a few surviving pagodas in the UK and no others in Scotland. the Kennedy family who lived here kept fancy birds and monkeys here, and would come on good days up to the tower to look out across the water to see what they could see.
this is a replica of the old staircase, but it is still very pretty.
hey look, lilah, a playground!
going down the bat-slide...
weeeeeee!!!
welcome to Culzean Castle
arriving in Maidens. we parked on the beach to escape the extortionate National Trust parking fees. which meant a wee walk to the Castle grounds...
that island there is Arran. i promise, we're in Scotland. i know, i know, you don't believe me because there's not a cloud in the sky.
it's really cold, but you can get some pretty rocks in there!
holy bmozwe, a swan in the ocean?

down by the sea(loch)side,
teaching amy about the echo
walking from the station house (amy and rupert's) to the loch (gairloch), through a tunnel. and you know what happens in tunnels...
visiting a local farm 1: the highland cows
aeroplane: a short-lived game
can you see the picture of Tino on the wall? he's lilah's true friend.
we're not playing this game anymore, though.
for health reasons it was a one-off.
